Director Chen introduces the following three commonly used methods for correcting upper eyelid laxity:
1. Correction of upper eyelid skin laxity followed by double eyelid surgery
Before surgery, design the double-eyelid line and the skin to be removed; incise along the designed line; excise part of the lax skin, fat, and a small amount of orbicularis oculi muscle; suspend and fix the prolapsed lacrimal gland; when necessary, strengthen the levator muscle to create a lively, curled-lash effect; and place fixation sutures as in double-eyelid plasty to create a relatively firm double eyelid.
2. Laxity correction through a double-eyelid incision
Design the skin to be excised along the original double-eyelid line; incise along the double-eyelid line; excise lax skin and a small amount of orbicularis oculi muscle and fat; suspend and fix the lacrimal gland; and suture in situ along the original double-eyelid line to restore a youthful double-eyelid appearance.
3. Subbrow (Suprabrow) Skin Lifting
Also known as brow lift or brow excision. It is a method of improving upper eyelid laxity by excising part of the skin below or above the eyebrow. Generally, based on the distance between the eyebrow and the eye and the degree of skin laxity of the client, an incision at the mid-brow, suprabrow, or infrabrow margin is selected. The skin is incised along the designed line; part of the lax skin is excised; an unsatisfactory eyebrow tattoo can also be excised simultaneously; the orbicularis oculi and frontalis muscles are lifted and fixed; and the skin wound is sutured. This method has minimal trauma, rapid recovery, and a concealed scar with an infrabrow incision. It significantly improves upper eyelid skin laxity and lateral canthal ptosis, and also markedly improves crow's feet at the corners of the eyes.
